Ingredients

    Instructions

    1. Prepare dough in the bread machine using water through yeast.
    2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 20' x 14' rectangle. Butter the sheet with half of the softened butter, then fold into thirds and repeat.
    3. Cover dough completely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours, or overnight.
    4. Divide dough in thirds. Roll each piece into a 10 1/2' x 7' rectangle, and cut each rectangle into 6 squares.
    5. Place squares on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Fold corners towards the center.
    6. Spritz pastries with water and allow to double for 45 minutes.
    7. Brush with an egg wash and place a spoonful of filling in each center. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
    8. Place pastries on a cooling rack. Optionally dust with powdered sugar.

    Notes

For more flaky layers, try repeating folding step two more times.
