- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs. Beat until combined.
- Mix flour and baking powder.
- Mix milk, vanilla, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk mixture to the butter.
- Spoon batter into 12 cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 18-22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting.
