    1. Cream butter and sugar.
    2. Add eggs. Beat until combined.
    3. Mix flour and baking powder.
    4. Mix milk, vanilla, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
    5. Alternately add the flour mixture and milk mixture to the butter.
    6. Spoon batter into 12 cupcake liners, filling each 2/3 full.
    7. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
    8. Cool completely before frosting.
